As we fast approach the New Year, what will 2025 hold for the world of Ripperology?


Will a new prime suspect be put forward?

Will a fresh piece of evidence be discovered?

Will missing Police files find the light of day?

Will a revelation be uncovered?

Will any suspects finally be ruled out?

Will the exhumation of a Ripper murder victim be commissioned?

Will we discover the true identity of the likes of Mary Kelly, Schwartz and Hutchinson?

Will the identity of the killer finally be revealed?

Or will there be a continued effort to frame poor old Charles Cross? I tend to think so.

Most years throw up a new suspect RD we can only hope that it’s a sensible one with good reason for being mentioned.

Who knows what the upcoming year will hold but we can only hope that we can move away from the current ‘defend your suspect at all costs’ approach to the subject. It would also be nice if there was a halt to the ongoing effort in some quarters of the media to paint anyone interested in the subject as a misogynist and with a willingness to go to almost any lengths to do so.

Open enquiry. The separation of opinion for fact. No flights of fancy. No fear of saying “we don’t know.”

Yes but not necessarily in 2025.

Will a fresh piece of evidence be discovered?

A network of interlocking circumstancial evidence compellingly identifying JTR.

Will missing Police files find the light of day?

Impossible to say.

Will a revelation be uncovered?

In 2025? Who knows...

Will any suspects finally be ruled out?

All previously suspects will ruled when THE JTR takes a bow...as I'm sure he will.

If you are refering to Kelly then it would be of no use in identifying Kelly as she lived on post 9th November 1888.

Will we discover the true identity of the likes of Mary Kelly, Schwartz and Hutchinson?

Kelly yes. The two others I am less sure about. I'm leaning towards accepting the Hutchinson proposed in the Fairclough book (Reg's dad).
I haven't closely followed any threads discussing Schwartz's identity or disputing his existence.

Will the identity of the killer finally be revealed?

The biggest mystery in the case is why people think there every was a mystery to his identity in the first place.
His identity was known to Warren et al at the latest immediately after the Double Event.

Otherwise my answer is a resounding 'Yes'!

I wouldn’t be surprised if another document comes to light or if something is found in some archives.

I think we’ll get some interesting academic articles.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Patricia Cornwell announces a 25th anniversary edition of her Sickert book or some kind of follow-up to it that has a multimedia aspect to it to be released in 2027.

Almost certainly, although it's far more likely to be a previously discussed potential suspect which is presented to the public as 'new'.
