My son and I will be in London for 10 days in August, and I plan on taking a few guided Ripper walks. Can anyone recommend one? I have checked out a few and the best-reviewed seem to be the ones run by Richard Jones and the other the tour Donald Rumbelow used to run. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have never been on a Ripper tour unfortunately however in my opinion Donald Rumbelow is exceptionally knowledgeable about the Ripper case.Originally posted by Holmes' Idiot Brother View PostMy son and I will be in London for 10 days in August, and I plan on taking a few guided Ripper walks. I had a great one with Mick Priestley and a great virtual one hosted by Richard Jones.
I've gone on three others in Whitechapel, ranging from meh to bad. If you are familar with the case, unless you have a great tour guide I suspect you will be disappointed. If you are familiar my advice is to just download a map to your phone and walk all the sites. It is quite easy and you will see much more.

I've been doing my research and my son and I plan to do no less than three and possibly more. I want to experience the good with the bad and hear all kinds of information (also good and bad). The idea is to immerse ourselves in the area and let our imaginations fill in the proper atmosphere and "ground truth," as they say. Our hotel is only a 15-minute walk from Mitre Square and this, for me, is the most problematic and fascinating location. I plan to go here often. I was pleased to discover that Rumbelow's tour meets at the Tower of London; we are staying at the Tower Hotel, directly across from the Tower. In all likelihood, we will also walk the route ourselves, as we will literally be in the neighborhood.Originally posted by Barnaby View PostI had a great one with Mick Priestley and a great virtual one hosted by Richard Jones.
