  • The Seaside Home: Could Schwartz or Lawende Have Put the Ripper's Neck in a Noose?

Anderson seems to imply that the witness identification at the Seaside Home was pretty much the smoking gun for their case against the suspect. But since neither Schwartz nor Lawende witnessed an actual murder how could this be? Certainly Schwartz's testimony would carry more weight since he allegedly saw the B.S. man attacking Stride but all a defense attorney would have to do would be to produce Swanson's report talking about the possibility of another murderer besides the B.S. man and his client would walk.

So do you think Anderson was just blowing smoke (assuming the story is true) or did the police have substantial evidence against the suspect at the time and just needed the smoking gun of an eyewitness testimony to seal their case? If so, what do you think that evidence could have been?

    Hi CD
The story is true but Anderson is just blowing smoke. over the years his positive ID and I know who the ripper was mentality grew in his own mind. Anderson was known as a bloviator so it suits with his personality. the other "evidence" anderson had was a jew theory and that Koz was crazy and violent and attacked his sister with a knife. so no smoking gun. Now that being said, Koz is still a valid suspect, but certainly not the "ascertained fact" that anderson boasted.

Assumption: That the witness had to be either Lawende or Schwartz. But what if he/she was someone else?

        Hello Abby,

Yes, I agree. Anderson was just blowing smoke to protect his ego. I also find it really hard to believe that they would have gotten a positive ID but passively accepted the fact that the witness wouldn't testify against a fellow Jew. I have no doubt he would have been leaned on hard to change his mind.

Yes, that is an assumption and it could have been someone else. But if Anderson is to be believed (now where have I heard that expression before?) not only would the witness had to have seen the Ripper but they would also have to be Jewish as well. Do we know anyone who meets that criteria?

That could very well be. Not saying it had to be Schwartz or Lawende.

Kosminski also resembled the man who was seen leaving Mitre Square that same night.

And there were many circumstances that made him a strong suspect.

                  Hi Baron

Could you expand on the many circumstances that made Kosminski a strong suspect?

                  Cheers John

He once got angry at his sister and involved himself with solitary vices.

Yes eronitha there doesn't seem to be much else. I'm still waiting for Baron's reply though.

                      Cheers John

                        Hi John,

I would like to list circumstances, some of them may or may not be connected to Kosminski,

                        1. The Bell Club incident

                        2. The 1887 incident with "Aaron Abrahams

                        3. The Batty street incident

                        4. The Crawford Letter

                        5. Had a great hatred of women, specially of the prostitute class

                        6. Had strong homicidal tendencies

                        7. Schizophrenic, delusional, paranoid and incoherent, sexually insane

                        8. Declared that he is guided and his movements altogether controlled by an instinct that informs his mind

                        9. Took up a knife and threatened the life of his sister

                        10. A Kosminski family lived in the Brunswick buildings on Goulston Street.

We of course don't have now the Police file on Kosminski, but those are some bold lines of his profile.

Add the 2 identifications to the list, then you have arguably a strong police suspect.

I would suggest that those who have not listened to the casebook online conference talk on the Seaside Home Witness, have a listen.

And he stepped on the cracks of the pavement.

If some may or may not be related then why list anything that isn't related
otherwise you could say he slaughtered numerous people in a crazed frenzy
secondly , if someone is "delusional" then we can safely dismiss anything he may have "declared"
There is no case against Aaron Kosminsky , never was
