  • 'Stride Murder Site Now Rubbish Dump'

I saw this article this morning and thought it might be of interest as it's about Berner Street.

Local news headlines for East London and Tower Hamlets, Canary Wharf, Docklands, Bethnal Green and the surrounding London Borough of Tower Hamlets areas from the East London Advertiser.

I thought there was a school now on the old Stride murder site?

    Best regards,

    Hi Archaic,

There is indeed a school on the actual site. I'm familiar with the heap of rubbish, which is on the other side of the road, further up towards Commercial Road.

    Regards,

    Mark

      Hi Mark.

      Thanks for explaining.

Maybe the news article is an attempt by the neighborhood to shame the local authorities into taking action?

      Best regards,

To be fair to Tower Hamlets, fly-tipping is a national problem and not one of their making. Having said that, if the rubbish isn't cleared more will certainly be added. Sadly it's all part of a general lowering of standards in the UK.
I won't always agree but I'll try not to be disagreeable.

There's already a chair. I predict a sofa and an old TV will soon make an appearance.

When that happens in Seattle we declare it 'Neighborhood Movie Night', unfold a portable screen, set up the projector, and everybody comes out with their living room or patio furniture to sit back, relax, and watch some old classic film. I have actually seen sofas, floor lamps, coffee tables, and even a candelabra.

I think Tower Hamlets should try Movie Night, but show all Ripper documentaries... It would really bring the neighborhood together.

            Cheers,
