Victims clothes and possesions

There are inventories of victims possesions- what happened to the clothes and possesions?

Over time, i suspect they were possibly taken as souvenirs by those in contact with them. Or perhaps they were never actually kept at all, so possibly incinerated at a later point when the need for them was zero. Thing is , they werent seen as evidence as a police force would today, just belongings.....i may be wrong in my answer
