    Are Ripper Tours relatively new?

I was interested to know if Ripper Tours are recent phenonmenon,or were such tours in business early, mid, later 20th century.
During the murders the locals were making money showing the sites- after the peak of public interest in 1888 was their no interest until late 20th century,as there seem to be few photos of murder sites.

Hi Daisy. Ripper tours started about 1889 as far as I can tell, though they wouldn't have become commercial ventures until probably a decade later, though probably before the 20th century.

My understanding is that at some point in the late 19th century, the tour actually took you into MJK's room.

        Hi Daisy,

Depends what you mean by tours.

During the murders locals showed people around. At the Chapman scene they rented their rooms out which overlooked the scene.

Some individuals toured the area a coupe of years after the crimes and though some of these were guided the tours were not organised like todays.

Todays style of tours started around the early 70s. Adults were charged and children half price. These were simple walking tours to only two sites I believe but have developed massively over the years.

        Hope that helps

        Cheers
