Hi Lynn
I am new to this forum. Have you finished your research on Capt.' Darnley'?
Did you dig up any more info. I would be most grateful for any data on him.
Some years ago I was researching him and his wife. I was mainly interested in the Kirwan family. He was born in Galway. de Breze was his grandmother's name. Many of his articles are available on line. His bio is listed on www.scope-database.com (sub required).I have a home page giving some further details if you are interested.

Hello Brian,
When you mention your interest in the Kirwan family are they possibly connected to a painter named William Kirwan, who was involved in an 1852 trial regarding the death (under odd circumstances) of his wife on the isle known as "Ireland's Eye"? William Roughead wrote an account of the crime.
Hello Jeff
Yes, I was aware of this case(William Kirwan/Ireland's Eye). He was convicted but later reprieved/pardoned and emigrated to USA with his mistress and children.
Thank you for your interest,

Since Lynn appears to be recommending "Fenian Fire" to you, if you haven't already read it, I'd join him in stating that it contains fascinating references to the Fenian movement and it's place in both the the background/foreground of 1880s politics...a great book in it's own right really...
Hi Lynn
Not familiar at all, at all.
I just read the reviews, pretty mixed but I will get the book and make my own judgement.
Thanks for your help
Brian
