  • Don't hurt me . . .I'm a lady but not THAT kind of lady.

Hello, I am new to Casebook although I have read quite a few of the threads on here I thought I would start one of my own, so here goes.

I wonder if JTR killed only prostitutes? I mean what if you were just a normal woman, walking the streets of Whitechapel and he crossed your path. I wonder if he would have tried to kill them or let them pass. I wonder if he had compassion for women who were not prostitutes. Did he have a sister, wife, daughter?

I was thinking hard about this the other night when I went to the store late one night. A man crossed my path who looked sooooooo scary. I moved out of his way and put my head down. He said, "I won't hurt you ma am, its ok. Sent shivers down my spine. Would Jack have said that to an ordinary lady I wonder?

    Hello and welcome,
I think that Jack approached his victims as a client, so if he walked up to a woman and asked her "How much?" and she said, "I am not that kind of woman!" he would let her go and move on. He didn't just pounce like a leopard from an alleyway and hope that the woman he was pouncing on was a prostitute. I would imagine he made many, many unsuccessful approaches, as do most serial killers.

Welcome to the boards, pretty interesting story you got there, I'm sure the Ripper would've said something like that to women who crossed his path and were scared of him, but I'm pretty sure kensei is right, he approached the women as clients.
