Sorry For Late Reply
Thank you all for easing my mind a bit.
You are right, of course, it's mostly people looking for a thrill. They definitely showed a lack of knowledge about anything that has to do with the case. Don't know why, but I was particularly amused by the individual who had said that he/she was going to write a book about the Ripper. Perphas I was reminded of the book reviews published on this site under "Ripper Media"?
Although, at the time, I just couldn't help but remember this post from Archaic on the forum's FAQ's:
We had a disturbed person post on here a few weeks ago, and I became very concerned that some members were carrying on a long mocking dialogue with him, apparently based upon the belief that he was either a 'just a wacko' or 'just a prankster'. I'm sure there have been plenty of them on Casebook over the years.
But upon reading his posts, I was afraid he was serious, especially as he wrote some extremely worrying things about his belief that he was "JtR reincarnated" & how victims "choose" what happens to them, including their own murder! I suggested to him as tactfully as possible that he see a counselor, & appealed to other members to cease baiting him in case he really was a disturbed & depressed individual rather than a wiseguy.
Another thing... They need to make a new Carmilla movie. I adore that story.
...and Charlie Chaplin was born on April 16...
Amitiés,
DavidWhich isn't mentioned in From Hell but should have been since he parodied Hitler in The Great Dictator.
Eight degrees of Jack the Ripper?
Sorry, couldn't resist: Me as Charlie Chaplin for Halloween one year. I'm with my late dog, Cobrashark.
I love the movie, The Great Dictator, it's amongst the top of my list for favorite Chaplin films. I also had the pleasure to meet his daughter, Geraldine Chaplin.
Although I don't get the "Eight degress of Jack the Ripper" reference..."You want to take revenge for my murdered sister? Sister would definitely have not ... we would not have wanted you to be like this."

I don't think it's uncommon for some people to adore serial killers. The people of Romania consider Vlad the impaler a hero and we all know about all of the cruel things he did to people. I admire Jack, not because he killed women, but because he was never caught.

The Great Dictator is fantastic, especially when you keep in mind the situation at the time of making the movie.Every man looking for salvation by himself... Like a coal drawn from the fire...

Yeah, the whole "talking about the situation the Jewish people were facing" was like a taboo in Hollywood, and yet Chaplin focused on it anyways. Although he didn't know the full extent of the horrors.
Before the war, the U.K. were going to ban it because they wanted to keep the peace. However, it was released after they declared war, it became a huge hit."You want to take revenge for my murdered sister? Sister would definitely have not ... we would not have wanted you to be like this."
