  • Drawing of Jack the Ripper - April 1892

I am about to transcribe a VERY long article entitled "The Nine Bad Jacks" published in the St Paul Sunday Globe on 3 April 1892.
In this article there is a long section about JTR and a drawing of Jack which I had not seen before
    This is below

    Interesting picture Chris

Well done for tracking these images down Chris,

That drawing of Jack will set certain hares a-running.

Has the image been reversed before the caption was added?

Or did Edwardian fashion-plate Footpath Crawlers wear pockets on both breasts?

And what is that in his pocket? Not the handle of a cut-throat razor surely?

    Perhaps its his spectacles?

    JOHN RUFFELS.

      Hello Chris,

this is obviously not the man described by Schwartz...

De vraies épaules de serpent, comme on dit....

      Amitiés,

That is a wool, wide-awake hat that has been washed in hot water.

Now Snake-Shoulders is on my top-list.

                  Hello Chris!

An interesting drawing indeed, thank you!

I am interested too about the hat; how common a hat like that was in the LVP?!

But the facial features are not far from the image, that I had!

                  All the best

                    Excellent work.
Who are the other eight and will you be posting their sketches as well?
