Is it part of the Eddowes mortuary photo? To be honest, I cannot see a person..... just distorted shapes

Looking closer it does look like a mortuary photograph. I have enlarged the picture and highlighted a possible body shape.

Thank you for enlarging it Adam.

THAT person is the image to the left of "Eddowes" in the "shell"...
And it is one very large reason why I believe that photograph to have huge question marks over it.

All I have done is sharpen the shading and colour the background....
To help enhance to picture.

Yes it may resemble a person but it isn't. It is just what our eyes create - forming something out of random shapes. I admit it looks like a corpse on it's own but when you look at it as part of the Eddowes photo, it is clear that it isn't. If that was a real person, then it would have to be a baby and it hasn't got the shape of a baby or child. If I read your comments wrong Phil and you are not claiming it is an extra person, then forget my observations!!

Hello Adam,

Only slightly wrong...

It isn't a PERSON's BODY in the shell with "Eddowes"... its an IMAGE of a person. I think it is a photographic enhancement ONTO the negative.

That's a guess, but according to a friend of mine, a bit of an expert in old photos, possible. (He actually said more..but I am being cautious)

I'm not sure. Perhaps. Perhaps not. All I know is that it is an image of a man. And that image, by sheer definition, isn't meant to be in that "shell"... The "shell" carrying a dead woman.

It CERTAINLY isnt a reflection off the side of the shell.

The "second corpse" also looks like, coincidently, a Ripper victim with abdominal mutilation! Just a coincidence but shows that your eyes can create things randomly. I've highlighted what I think looks like the mutilations....

Hi Phil. If, and thats a big if, this is double exposure, it may explain why the "man" ended up in the photo. If the police had used the same camera to photograph several bodies, including Eddowes and said "man", this would explain the supposed crossover of images, if it was double exposure.

Hello Adam,

Not sure the image of the man is a mortuary photo...could be, but his "eye" is open for one. The other has seemingly been painted over....
I think we had better start looking at a possibility. A manipulated photo. I leave that for others to decide. But the fact is that "whatever" that photo is, it raises huge questions in my mind.

I would really like to know "who" the image is though. I have an idea. But I will wait with that. I could be barking up the wrong tree.

When you say "who", do you mean Eddowes or our mystery "man"? I would like to hear you idea and look forward to reading it in future. I know that you will probably get a lot of disagreement from other posters on this issue but it would be great to hear your opinions.

The "man" is the person this thread is about... but if you wish to expand the idea of "Eddowes" or not.. look at the thread I responded to about the "tattoo" on the arm. Reason No.2 why I think this photo is "wrong".
