      Hello Lynn,
Yes, its the bunch of Dynamite Plotters and the Officers that captured them. I think the offenders are in the middle. The Policemen around the outside of them.

      best wishes

I thought it was the Polish Rugby Union team of 1888, with the Poles pulling a fast one and playing four extra men.

            terrorism

Hello Phil. Dynamite plot, eh? Interesting. Sounds like terrorism.

Say, you don't suppose the WCM had anything to do with terrorism?

              Hello Robert,

How long did it take you to come up with that Robert? ;-)

I really would like to know the names of that lot illustrated though.

PS The extra 4 were the substitutes. Incase of eye gouging.

              best wishes

You ought to see a doctor about that.

Hi Phil, I came across this back in September and posted them on jtrforums.com and on my facebook page and noticed that this image found it's way onto a down market ripper blog!

The illustration appeared in the London Graphic on Saturday April 28th 1883. The image, according to the Graphic, is from the Regent Photographic Company, 22 Regent Street. A thorough report on the plotters attempts to cause destruction appeared a page earlier.

It was a significant find for me, as it proved that Inspector Roots was Inspector Thomas Roots and not, as previously thought, Inspector J Roots.

I also heard that Alan Sharp had bought a copy of this print from Ebay some time earlier!
                      Regards Mike

                        Hello Mike,

Thanks, I think its a super pic. Well drawn and very detailed... Debs blew this up for me and I have a very clear version in an emai. And well done for coming across it. When I saw it, I'd never seen it before. And like I said, the American Doctor thing stood out for me. I have a feeling the two "Roots" were related. I don't know though. One lived in Newington I believe.

                        best wishes

It sounds from your two posts that it came out massive, Phil, hope you aren't on dial up!
The illustrations in the Graphic paper are superb quality, I collected loads of the East End related ones in the past, I posted a few to the East End photographs and drawings thread, pre-crash though I think.
