My history 696 class requires a consular report as a source. I remember vaguely an inquiry about native Americans owing to the presence of a wild west show. Could someone take pity on me and be more specific? Was this an official inquiry to the consulate? Respectfully Dave

Buffalo Bill Cody and his Buffalo Bill's Wild West ("show" was not part of the name of it) were in London and Manchester, 1887-1888, and inadvertently left some of the show's Lakota performers behind. These Lakota men had got lost in London, and apparently were questioned by the Metropolitan Police about the Ripper killings. Among them was Black Elk (of the book "Black Elk Speaks").
I'd love to know more about this whole episode myself, but look for a book called "Buffalo Bill's America".~ Khanada
