  • Any refutation of Thompson?

I recently read the essay posted under the suspects' forum about Francis Thompson and the author seems to make a convincing case. I have searched on here to no avail to find any refutation of Thompson as a suspect, or contradiction of that essay.

Has anyone anything to say, or can direct me to a critique of that essay?

    Thanks

    Some Online Resources for Thompson

    Hi, Helena, and welcome!

While I don't know if anyone has written a critique of the essay you mention, there is more information about Thompson available online: PoemHunter.com has a selection of his poetry, and Google Books has several Thompson-related works available for online preview.

Googling him will also link you to old Casebook posts.

Thompson's poetry is intense, isn't it?
Good luck & best regards, Archaic

Hi Helena, I have always thought Francis Thompson to be a very strong candidate for Jack the Ripper who for some unknown reason doesn't get tha attention his case deserves. Not only does he fit neatly the FBI profile of Jack but given his disturbed childhood and apparent fascination with death he also has the required level of medical training to make him a suspect. Add to this the fact that he was known to be associating with eastend prostitutes at the time of the killings and he ticks all the boxes. You could try looking on http://www.geocities.com/athens/troy/2057/index.html where you will be able to download a free PDF copy of Richard A Patterson's book on Francis Thompson as JTR.
