"That would be an ecumenical matter!" - Father Jack
seriously though, are there degrees of evil? If we try to quantify it in terms of number of victims Sutcliffe becomes the most evil.
But then we take Jack the Ripper who in many respects has become a mythical figure representative of evil - effectively fulfilling the role that demons and witches held in the medieval mindset.

I think there is a way to pinpoint evil in acts....the lack of any kind of emotional condition other than joy or pleasure from harming others. Devoid of empathy, compassion, guilt, remorse.
Profilers suggest the worst killers they have had opportunity to study all had those humanity flaws....and some have been evaluated scientifically to reveal brains that work differently from most peoples. Their emotional center was defective.
Evil is in actions, its not a personality type....so both of these guys committed evil acts...no one crime worse than the other.
Best regards all.

I posted to another thread like this a few weeks ago with the following:
Forensic psychiatrist Michael Stone developed a scale of evil from 1-22.
He has a TV show here in America on the investigation discovery channel where he profiles evil people. Here are some of the profiles he has done.
Dennis Rader, John Wayne Gacy, Tommy Lynn Sells, Charles Ng , Leonard Lake , Paul Bernardo, Ian Brady, Gary Heidnik, Jeffrey Dahmer , David Parker Ray , Westley Allan Dodd, Richard Kuklinski, Jim Jones, Adolfo Constanzo, Jeff Lundgren, Andrei Chikatilo, Edmund Kemper, and the Black Dahlia murderer (new evidence suggests George Hodel) all rated 22.
Interestingly Charles Manson rated 15, Ed Gein 13, David Berkowitz (Son of Sam), and Ted Bundy both rated only 17. And Gary Ridgway rated 18.
Here is a link to his category list http://investigation.discovery.com/t...vil-scale.html
using the known facts about The ripper murders we can say JTR was- possible sexual sadist, indiscriminate killer, mutilator, death of victim is incidental to the mutilation.
Without proof of sexual behavior jack rates as a 20 Torture murderer with torture as the primary motive but in psychotic personalities.
Prove that sexual acts where performed and he is Rated 22 Psychopathic torture-murderers, with torture their primary motive, sexual homicide'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride!'
