Would you like to see the Whitechapel Murderer ? Poll.
No! When you time travel, you will almost certainly change something that results in you never being born. You'd probably vanish before you even got a good look at the guy.
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.
Stan, it`s okay, cos I asked about this before I went. Apparently, they just capture a snapshot of the period you wish to visit, and then you can go in. It doesn`t matter what you do whilst your there.
I mulled this one over for a few minutes, and I decided that, being female, I’d agree to go back in time to Mitre Sq. on the condition that I can take my dog with me, OK? He’s very large (130 lb German Shepherd/Timber Wolf) but I figure that, while bending Time & Space, our talented Time Travel Agents can also waive any potential Quarantine Rules or Travel Restrictions. Buckwheat is gorgeous, and has a unique “Crime Detecting” gift in that only Bad Guys with a guilty conscience are ever afraid of him- in fact, he’s a volunteer Therapy Dog who visits children & old people. But when walking him in the city, I’ve noticed that once in a great while an unsavory-looking character will suddenly spot my pup from 50 feet away, freeze in horror, and yell “Sh**t!! Sh**t!! Is that a POLICE DOG??” and before I can even respond “No, he’s friendly; do you want to pet him?” the guy throws himself into oncoming traffic & is gone, seriously hurting poor Bucky’s feelings.
I’d like to claim my trusty dog would throw the Ripper to the ground and hold him for the Police, but I kinda doubt it… however, he’d certainly give the Ripper the fright of his life and inspire in him a “Spring-Heeled Jack” Impression of Olympic caliber- wouldn’t be surprised if Jack leapt over the Kearly & Tonge Warehouse in a single bound! Then maybe Jack would break an ankle upon landing & the coppers could finally nab him. Who needs pricey Bloodhounds? OK; we’ll go… Do we book online?
Assuming that you are an average sized male and you make eye contact with the Ripper as he is hovering over a deceased Eddowes, is he going to run or is he going to come after you? I vote run. Same with Bucks Row. But I'm not sure about 29 Hanbury and Millers Court, as he might be cornered. Given the opportunity though, I'd think he'd run. What do others think?

He always ran. Thats why we dont know who he is.
On topic I have to vote no for 2 reasons:
1st
The only people that for sure got a good look at the ripper, Nichols, Chapman, maybe Stride, Eddows, maybe Kelly, they all died. Im addicted to breathing and i dont intend to quit anytime soon.

The paradox thing. lets say you go back to the Nichols murder, you see Jack, he sees you, he decides to leave Whitechaple forever so he dont get caught. Mary Kelly has a child in 1890 that grows up to be worse than Hitler or maybe he kills your grandfather. Hmmm Adolph Kelly?

I would wait outside Millers Court, slap him over the head with a wet fish from Billingsgate, fill his pockets with stones and chuck him in the Thames!
Of course - yes I voted YES ...but as Robert says- I wouldn't want to- if it was the last thing I ever saw!
Prap's the bloke who followed Hutch around recording his movements(!!!!!!!!) may be a good position to be in!!! (her hum)
.......Failing that.... a time traveller of some description (With a 'safe-return/no difference made' button of course!!!!)
Come in Jana!

Mind you - if we DID know 100% what would we all be doing with our Sunday afternoons?- Apart from sitting in the sun -which I've just noticed is out!!!

There's the other aspect of the paradox thing, Smez, namely that if your going back in time somehow prevented one or more of the Ripper murders from happening, then they would not have become as "popular" in the public imagination, which would give you no reason to go back to 1888 to investigate them in the first place.
Actually, some twit has already mucked everything up, for the murders originally occurred in Leeds. But some meddling busybody went back in time and scared him into going down south and doing them in Whitechapel. The line of hisory leading from the Leeds murders contained ;
1. No Hitler
2. No Stalin
3. I win the lottery
Instead we're lumbered with this Whitechapel history line with all the harm it's done to humanity and my wallet.
Interesting poll. I voted yes. Now, how would I know who he was?
Thanks for the poll.
Best,
Cel

Lemme get my hands on him.
Now I have to use the time machine to go back and stop myself from stoping the Leeds murders. But maybe I stopped the Leeds murders to prevent him from doing something we cant remember now becouse it didnt happen after he was stopped. Or maybe I stopped them just becouse I didnt want Robert to win the lottery.
