This has niggled in the back of my mind now for sometime, so I thought Id see if anyone has any thoughts on the matter, or thinks it possibly, potentially important.

For some reason I dont accept this is purely co-incidental, but I have no formed opinion on what might be a potential tangent that is relevant to the investigations.

Catherine Eddowes used 2 variations of the name Mary Jane Kelly in her last 24 hours. She pawned the boots as Jane Kelly, of 6 Dorset St, and gave Sgt Hutt...(Sgt?)...the name of Mary Kelly when being released.

Which means that the only two victims with facial cuts are both named or calling themselves Mary Kelly when they are killed....consecutively. We have no way of knowing what name Kate gave Sailor Man, or if she knew him already, but it wouldnt be a huge stretch to imagine her using the name again within the hour if this was a first meeting.

I wonder about the nose being cut off, the facial marking and slashing, and the names. It seems like these two women were punished in ways the others werent. Im thinking words like "silencing, punishing and warning" for lack of better word skills.

Is there any real liklihood in your opinion that this little factoid might be relevant?

edit: Needed to add that the logical implication of her relationship with John hasnt passed by me, its that the street as Dorset, and the "Jane" then "Mary" is if nothing else an odd coincidence. Although I do believe Kelly distanced himself from this for a day.

Hope you dont mind me abbreviating, its seemed funnily like an acronym youd see on a porn site

Anyway, youre right, it is almost anti-melodramatic if anything, as its almost too well authored. I mean it is a perfectly prepared twist to throw in a Ripper fiction piece.

But add some things into this....where exactly was Kate her last 24 hours and when precisely did she pawn Johns boots? Why didnt John immediately seek out where Kate was, if they usually were together every night as we are led to believe? And considering two unidentified new Ripper victims were found. Is there any truth, even partially, that Kate told an exlandlady she returned to collect the reward money? Is there some remote unknown familial tie that John Kelly has with Mary Jane? How did Kate get money to get hammered by 8pm? Why does Kate walk to the left after her release, what is in effect, the opposite direction we would expect her to, considering again, the relationship claims of Kelly. How is it that an East End street girl finds herself in The City of London 35 minutes after being released from Jail? Do "Jane", then " Mary", then the 6 Dorset street address only represent what her imagination could put together? Why would she not say Kate Kelly..she has justification for calling herself Kelly by what we know of her and John, and likely is unknown to the law as other than Catherine Eddowes....so why not Kate Kelly?

And why does the single witness that supposedly claimed to know the Ripper have a superflous wound that has clear symbolic meaning in common jargon, "cutting ones nose to spite their face"? Why do only these two, who are both calling themselves Mary Kelly when they die in sequence within the Canon, have wounds to their facial appearance?

Something common in killings with a personal relationship catalyst.

Theres more of course, and interesting tangents possible, but I do know it could be a random occurance of an odd nature considering what transpired.
