    Nottingham Connections??

I am just starting a thread on behalf of my brother Joe. This is his request, not mine...

I have told him that I am unaware of any so he wanted to ask if there is any supposed connection with the Ripper to Nottingham / Nottinghamshire??

I have assured him it is unlikely but he says ask anyway, so,there goes.

    Thanks

    Kind regards,

    Adam
    Best regards,
    Adam

Looked more into it and did some digging into Thomas Porter's former apprentices. In the letter sent to Porter, said to be from a former apprentice, the writer claims to be one of two men committing the murders. One of Porter's appretice's was named George Fisher. He was born in 1864 and would have been 27 in 1891. I've looked at the 1891 census and there is a George Fisher in Whitechapel, aged 27! Could this be the letter writer and could George Fisher be one of two rippers.... Think I will delve into this one some more......

i could only find one George Fisher aged 27 in 1891 Whitechapel census
He was the son of a family living at 13 High Street
However, he is listed as born in Hampton, while the apprentice to Thomas Porter of the name George Fisher was born in Sleaford, Lincolnshire
Also the George Fisher listed in Whitechapel comes from a respectable professional family - his father is a bank manager and he himself is listed as a bank clerk

Hi Chris. If you have the time, would you be able to send me the census records for the George Fisher born in Sleaford? No rush or anything, just when you have a moment. Thanks
                  Best regards,
                  Adam
