    Routledge's Almanac for 1888

You can get a free copy at https://play.google.com/store/books/...AAAYAAJ&rdot=1

Lots of fascinating information, plus period ads. It's very London-centric. Among other things, there's a list of entertainments to visit in London, along with their hours and prices, coach and carriage prices (including charges for luggage carried on the rack, asking the cabbie to wait, etc), as well as thoroughly detailed lists of where army and navy units are stationed, commanding officers, and much more.

Thanks Ginger, this sounds like a fantastic source for period info.

Unfortunately, according to the link, it doesn't seem to be available in the UK.
