As I understand it many immigrant Jews were employed at Wentworth Boot Shop on Wentworth Street. Were there other such boot shops in Whitechapel? Where was Wentworth Street? Was it near Sion Square? Thanks for your help.

Not really. Sion Square is south of Whitechapel High Street. If you turned south on Union Street, went past the church on your right, then turned east (left) on Union Row (the first intersection), then Sion Square is that open space where Union Row joins Mulberry Street. Wentworth is to the west and north - it's the next major street north from Whitechapel High Street, almost where Whitechapel turns into Aldgate. It's the extension of the much narrower Old Montague Street. George Yard is just south of Wentworth.Originally posted by Barrister View PostWhere was Wentworth Street? Was it near Sion Square? There's a very nice, detailed map at http://www.casebook.org/official_doc...d_map_full.jpg , which seems to be no longer linked from the maps page, for whatever reason.- Ginger
