Hello Ted. This is good news indeed.

Makes one wonder how much more material is out there waiting to be discovered.

    Cheers.

    inquest

    Hi All,
Been offline for a while as my computer died of a thousand bugs. Now got a laptop.

With regard to Wynne Baxter I thought this might be of interest, while researching the life of Mary Kelly the syphilitic Whitechapel prostitute mentioned in the Whitechapel Infirmary of 1881 [not our girl] I found this.

I thought the death of Mary Kelly at Whitechapel age 32 at Whitechapel 1891 [ right age] would be the same one. So I ordered her death certificate to see if she died of syphillis. She did not, and there are many mks of similar age in London. However Wynne Baxter was the coroner and did the inquest.

    Where died Name Occupation
18th march mary ann kelly formerly a domestic
Whitechapel infirmary 32 years servant late of Little Googe St
    Tottenham Ct Rd

Cause of death Signature, description and residence of informant
    sudden
acute pertonitis certificate received from Wynne E Baxter
natural coroner for county of London
    Inquest held 21st march 1891

    Cheers Miss Marple

Just to go off topic for a minute, I have posted on the BBC who do you think you are forums and they have really taken to this, and have been really helpful in trying to find out were my ancestors came from.

Good work, everybody; this is pretty cool...

And once Ted recovers his lost inheritance,
perhaps he'll hold a 'Ripper Open House' at his chateau?

    Best regards, Archaic

PS: Welcome to the forums, John!

We all have some color in our roots Ted, yours happens to connect with a man that is quite interesting in these cases. Your connection seems sort of like discovering Clarence Darrow represented a relative.

As Dave O showed with his post, his interest in Baxter is there, and a few people have looked into him more closely to see what we can make of him.

    Cheers mate

Almost 113 years ago to the day! If he were the son of a titled Frenchman, you might be able to trace your family back even further.

    Great research, Dave O!
