    Image Issues

It’s only recently that I’ve found that some images posted on Casebook are showing as a purple box with “Content not viewable in your region” written inside. A recent example is an image posted by Wickerman in post #325 of the Suspect Witnesses thread. I know the image and have seen it on Casebook many times. I don’t believe that I’ve encountered this issue elsewhere (JtRForums or How Brown’s Carry Brown site for example) It’s certainly not all images but it’s also not just the one example that I’ve given.

    Any ideas?

I've also experienced this. Sometimes if the still is posted from a YouTube video that is 'country' specific it won't show.

    From vbulletin -

"The "content not viewable in your region" message on vBulletin likely indicates a server-side configuration issue, such as a geo-blocking plugin, or a client-side problem with your connection, such as a VPN or proxy. To troubleshoot, first check your server's settings, especially the config.php file for correct database information, and use the do_not_upload/tools.php tool to verify your site URL and other settings. If you are accessing the site from a VPN or proxy, try disconnecting and accessing it from a different network to rule out a client-side issue."

If you’d posted that in Welsh it wouldn’t have been any less impossible to understand. Thanks though GeddyThe one posted by Wickerman in post is just a street diagram of Berner Street. It’s not a major issue. That’s tech for you.

I've had a similar issue too.

I just gave the flux capacitor one big slap, and it seems to have fixed the problem.

No, exactly the same Wick. Content not viewable in your region. I have an iPad so I looked on my android phone and it was the same. It’s a little strange because I can recall you posting this image before and it showed find.

It manifests on content provided by external links,
like in above Wick's example (that image link points to https://i.imgur.com/Ra4Rvcg.jpg).
The external link is any web address outside of your main domain "casebook.org".
(in previous example domain imgur.com is clearly not casebook.org).
The manifestation is the result of some filtering policy applied to the web request
on the destination server (the server that has that requested content).
The most common policy is GEO IP
(it bans based on which country (region, continent) the request is coming from).
But the ban could be based on the number of concurrent requests from
the same IP address or the type of user device, etc.
One possible mitigation is to place some proxy service
(CDN, (Content Delivery Network) like CloudFlare, bunny.net, etc.)
in front of the servers serving the content from casebook.org.

I'm simplifying all of this quite a bit, but for this case it's good enough.
              Hope it helps.

                  I don't buy it!
You are too curious for such a petty excuse.

In that weather condition some man in that group should watch more carefully on prostate problems.
But wool underwear explains a lot of their seriousness.
                        I couldn't resist.

I’d got the diagram from a previous posting Wick but thanks for this.
