Bugs and Issues based on the Last Update

We have been made aware of the fact that there are bugs in the forums, including, but not limited to, the quote feature is not working for some people. We are working to address the bug issues, but we have currently limited wifi capacity so it might be a bit of time. If you have noticed any other weird things occurring, please post them here so we have a centralized place to reference quickly. Limit this ONLY to bugs and issues you have experienced in the last couple of weeks. We already know about the quote issue being buggy. Any more?

I don’t know if it’s to do with bugs and I don’t know how long it’s been going on but the stars beneath our names aren’t working? It’s not important but I thought I’d mention it in case it’s a connected to something.

The home link seems to have broken too - rather than leading to either the forum homepage or the main landing page, it
leads to a blank casebook.org page

I don’t know if this helps, but I think the issue with the quote feature is somehow connected to the “restore post” function. If you write a post and preview it but don’t actually post it before logging off, a copy of it is kept and you’re later given the option to “restore” or “delete it.” If you don’t choose either one of those options, but just let the post hang around in limbo, you won’t be allowed to use the quote feature again until you’ve deleted your old“non-posted” post. At least that’s what I’ve noticed.

Thank you! That does help as it gives us something to look at, but we currently think it is a new feature/bug in the software that we won't be able to change.

As a work around, if you select "quote" on a thread and it doesn't put the quoted text into the reply box, if the Quote link lights up orange, scroll to the top of the page and hit Post Reply and that should put the quote in.

I don’t know if this is an issue at my end but when I click on ‘Select from Photo Album’ to add a picture, instead of taking me to my own photo album so that I can select the picture,I want (as it always used to) it now takes me to the photo’s that I’ve already posted on here at some point.

In addition to post #4 from Roger, I've also had an issue recently (although it doesn’t occur every time) Sometimes when I use the quote function i type my response but when I hit ‘post’ there is either a longer than usual gap before it posts or occasionally nothing happens at all. What I have to do is close the Casebook tab then open it up again and return to the post. If I click ‘restore’ i can then post it straight away.

I've found that post numbers can be different for different posters, so it can take some detective work to track down which post is being referred to if there are no direct quotes or other clues to guide the reader.

I also found recently that if I read a post on my phone without logging in, the post number will differ - typically by two digits - from the same post accessed via my laptop, so it may just be something to bear in mind when citing post numbers.

My post should come up as #9 on this thread, so I will check it's the same on my phone. It might only be a problem on much longer threads.

Yep, it was #9 on my phone too, which is no great surprise!

If you put someone on mute, or several people on mute, it throws off the post numbers. One can see the 'correct' post number that everyone else sees if you don't log in, but if you do log in, the post numbers will change and then the post numbers you reference will be wrong.

I thought that might be the case, except that I have never put anyone 'on mute', so it didn't seem to explain why the post numbers differ for me when reading them using my phone while not logged in.

I know that you're aware of the quote feature bug, but I'll relate my own experience as that might provide a clue to how to solve it. I never had any trouble with the quote feature until yesterday. What happened was that I intended to edit my post, but accidentally hit the quote button instead. I soon realized my mistake, so I then hit the edit button and succeeded at editing my post. Since then, I haven't been able to use the quote feature. Maybe I failed to delete or cancel my mistaken quote, and if I did that it would solve the problem, but i don't know how to do that with a quote that isn't on the screen.

The site now has more bugs than Starship Troopers.

Right after my last post, I went to a thread that at the end of it gave me the option of discarding previous content. I did so, and that seems to have solved my quoting problem.
