  • What would JtR do after Kelly?

You've ripped a woman to pieces in her own home. You've secured a little collection of internal organs along the way. You're not caught yet. What do you do next to get your kicks?

    A full dismemberment?
Does he cut the head off?
Given the eyes have not been destroyed up to now - does he stab or take the eyes? Does JtR have a respect for eyes that he doesn't for the rest of the body?

If he continues - what would be the next step in a progressive serial killer?
Does he go for the amount of mutilation or does he go for the speed of mutilation? Does he decide that he wishes to specialise in one area of mulitation giving his splurge in Miller's Court?

Sit down, drink some vodka and light up a smoke. At least thats what I would do.

      Hi Vingle,

If you count Mary Kelly among Jacks victims, I think yes, the indications are that he had very little more to gain from cutting alone so he might move to dismemberment. De-fleshing a limb makes that a possibility I think. Interesting that there is in fact a Torso killer doing that very thing that same Fall and the following year.

If Jack didnt kill Mary...its still possible that he did kill Alice the next year based on the attack and the wounds...which would make 4 victims with almost identical attack and wound evidence, in just under a year....and one with a single throat cut.

My point is that depending on who you feel were Jacks victims, your question of his "next step after the last victim" may not be workable....Mary may not have been last. In fact she may not be a Ripper victim at all.

If Mary and Liz Stride were not Ripper victims, ...but Polly, Annie, Kate and Alice were....what would that say about his range of attack and murder styles or formats?

It would show it as specific, repetitive and always concluding with abdominal mutilations....which would mean that he didnt kill in varied ways.

      Best regards.

Of Course MJK was a ripper victim. To believe otherwise would be believing that there was an even worse killer in Whitechapel at the time than Jack.

I honestly believe that after he killed MJK he sat down got himself drunk and lit up a smoke. Honestly, what else is there to do after all he has accomplished?

Also the wounds on Alice McKenzie were superficial and definately not the work of JTR.

Well, even as someone who believes that Mary Jane was indeed a Ripper victim, I can't discount the notion that there could have been... If nothing else, you have the torsos. They had to come from somewhere, and in any case, "worse" is subjective and in the eye of the beholder.

What if JTR had already been perfecting his silent killings by experimenting on earlier women with similar wounds.

What if he was a Med Student with narssistic tendencies so killing to obtain what he was striving for would have been just an end to a means.
He could well have dabbled in dismemberment if he needed to perfect it for some reason.

These are good points, but lets not stray from the topic. What he would have done after his last kill.

Who else agrees that getting drunk and having a few smokes sounds like one of the recreational activities of JTR?

From what I've read about the Victorians, particularly those of the East End, those were common enough recreational activities for anyone in that area, at pretty much any time. That alone doesn't make them significant as possible, speculated recreational activities of Jack's.

We don't know who he was. We don't know why he killed. Debating about what he did for a jolly afterwards is just more speculation.

I myself hope he washed his hands...

Maybe he salvaged the blood and kept it as some sort of sexual lubricant.

Before or after he whacked off using the blood as lubricant?

Having just completely disassembled Mary Kelly, eclipsing all his other killings by far, I think Jack would have walked out of Miller's Court and just kept walking for a very long time, with no particular destination but putting distance between himself and the crime scene. He'd be extremely keyed up, a thousand thoughts in his head, so how could he possibly just go home and relax? Perhaps it was extreme excitement of the "I am a GOD!" variety, or more likely it was "Oh my god oh my god, I can't believe I just did that. They are gonna catch me for sure. I am going to hang. What am I gonna do now?"

So maybe he stopped by home just long enough to stash Mary's heart and clean up a bit, and then I think I see him just walking and walking as the dawn came up, to burn off some of that energy and to be sure he was far from the scene. But as the day wore on, and he calmed down a bit, he may have drifted back to Dorset Street and joined the huge crowd of onlookers. Standing there in full view of the police and everyone, and seeing that not one suspicious glance came his way, would have renewed his confidence.

Then again, after Ted Bundy did his infamous double murder at Lake Samamish, his most crazily over the top crime up to that time, he was just hungry and tired and wanted nothing more than to eat and sleep. So you never know.

I keep an open mind unlike some people. How else are we supposed to uncover the identity of JTR if we dismiss every idea that is presented to us.
