  • populations

Of course, getting the geography straight in my own mind was only part of getting a good contextual hold. Another aspect tackled was the likely population. The only caveat used to get this total was homogenous spread over the area. Of course it is not true, but the next option is direct sampling by residence, which was not going to happen. Here are the estimated populations for 1871, 1881,and 1891. No observed population fluctuation in the period estimated would lead an objective person to the conclusion the local population was undergoing a severe population growth. https://goo.gl/photos/ZvkJR8YTsvp8aGLd6

    • There are other elements I tracked just out of curiosity. Pedestrian archways like those leading into Miller's Court for example, as these represent potential ambush sites and each militates away from the view that the kill alone was the goal. This is particularly interesting if you believe mutilation was the killer's drive, as the assumed increase in privacy offered by such places would have lead to attacks in these places. https://goo.gl/photos/Gv3WsLKkd9vm2Bv86

I have not forgot about my casebook homies either! This is image is not in the book, but made just for my casebook pals from the data in the book. I could not possibly put all configurations of all the data in one volume. . As it is, the book is 611 kindle pages.

I made this because I suspect it may have been one reason the area that was searched was chosen. If you believe the warren of unnamed courts bred crime, they were looking in the right spot.

Of course, the Goad maps are published in 1899. Goad himself returned to England in 1886. This gives a presumed data gathering time of 13 years which includes 1888. It is also why the book is called 11 years later. Here is the total state of fluctuation of MRH as indicated by Goad.

                    • The whole book examines the area through a series of metric like local consumption, education, non-traditional housing, employment venues, pedestrian and archways and hydrants, which are themselves derived from actual map features. The whole area is broken down into cells so that local fluctuations could be observed.

These I believe could be useful in narrowing down people of interest. To my mind, they show a remarkable continuity given the whole of the area does not conform to the paradigm of housing as a leading factor. Again, M4 is the outlier.

                          • areas of MRH with domiciles as leading structural usage

As we see in the MRH Old Nichol comparison, the primary difference is the presence of domiciles. Here is a graphic demonstrating those areas of MRH with domiciles as the leading structural useage, in a broad sense it can be taken as the parts of MRH most reminiscent of victim radii. Dave

I saw a new thread wanting to know if slaughterhouses were a feature near the victims. The m1 victim is the sole victim with a slaughterhouse within 100m, and those structures are in fact the sole structures listed as slaughterhouses within the footprint of the m5, Dave
