Default 1889 Kelly Play

Last night, during the question and answer session after Robin Odell's excellent talk at the Whitechapel Society meeting, Donald Rumbelow said that he believed that a play had been performed somewhere in London in Feb 1889 entitled 'The Death of Mary Kelly' which may have had as props the actual furniture from Mary Kelly's room. I spoke to him afterwards and he said that he would welcome any further information on this.

Oh well, that must be a private joke among Ripperologists of a certain age.

Silly me.

Wasn't that the play which was pulled after one performance, because the leading lady kept corpsing on stage?

Sam (Gareth)

Is this a joke or isn't it?

I suspect the former but what fun if the latter.

The best as always,

Stephen
