  • Jack the Ripper episode of "Oddities"

Oddities is an American TV show about a couple that owns a store that sells medical oddities...deformed baby pigs, amputated organs, etc. Episodes generally consist of a client walking into the store, requesting something unusual...then the owners are shown meeting with their suppliers to obtain these items, then they present it to the client at the end.

They have an episode that I'm watching right now where a client comes in and explains that he is helping to build a serial-killer-themed haunted house and has been assigned the Jack the Ripper room. He was looking for human organs and anything else they might have that can be related to the ripper.

    The Bad:
    - they pretty much assume that JTR was a wealthy doctor. they first try to sell the client a bone saw (!). Later, they end up selling him some liston knives after consulting a victorian medical equipment specialist.

    The Good:
    - They successfully identify the organs JTR actually removed. They end up selling the client a human kidney in a jar and some dog intestines in a jar. One of their suppliers tries to sell them a brain in a jar, but they note that the ripper never removed a brain.

They're showing the haunted house in the next scene after the commercial break. Will post an update.

The haunted house room was not particularly inaccurate, relative to media standards. A woman was prone on her back with a middle aged/pudgy looking doctor kneeling over her pulling out an intestine.

They even mentioned the fact that most of the letters are thought to be fake, but that the From Hell letter is the most likely to be real.
