We can only see the moon when it's reflecting sunlight. The position of the moon before/during an eclipse doesn't allow for it to reflect sunlight.

Okay. I don't want to cheat and google it. So, my honest answer is that I don't remember. I may be wrong but it's got something to do with sunlight reflecting off of Earth's atmosphere.

you have the right idea. just blue sky.

the photons bouncing around off the molecules in the atmosphere creates the blue sky affect which also covers the moon. where the moon actually is in the sky right now all you see is blue sky. pretty wacky.

Well if I was the sun, I'd be very upset. This was meant to be its big day, the day of the eclipse - and then the moon gets in the way!

              another one:
Is the moon closer to you as you observe it rising on the horizon (moonrise), or when it is directly overhead you in the sky?
