Hi, Colin

Note that gravity decreases inversely as the square of the distance, so you should be dividing your distances by 9 instead of 3, 4 instead of 2, etc. This will entail extra work, but it should eventually lead to a circle so tight that you'd have to declare which of Jack's feet were on the spot at any given time.

Gareth, Newton actually came up with what was to become Einstein's theory of gravity - but an apple fell on his head and he forgot all about it.
