  • Gunman kills five, wounds three at Maryland newspaper

It has happened again. A man with a grudge against his local newspaper walked inside their building with a shotgun and killed five employees, injuring three others.

Reporters and editors at the Capital Gazette quickly turned their heads around when the glass doors leading to the newsroom suddenly shattered. Within minutes, it “was like a war zone.”

The Capital Gazette of Annapolis, Maryland is one of the oldest newspapers still in operation in the U.S.

This time, the gunman was captured, hiding under a desk. Which means a long drawn-out trial awaits him.

Interesting about him hiding and being captured alive. I've noticed more and more these creeps actually are not avoiding a public humiliation of a trial by committing suicide, but are either captured or only wounded in some gun battle. Also, the ones who seem not to kill themselves are older than the boys who shot up Sandy Hook and other schools.

This one, by the way, had a vicious disposition - he had gotten into trouble by reconnecting with a female fellow high school classmate on the internet, than turning vicious on her, and sending threats to her and jeapardizing her job. He got some 90 day suspended sentence if he got psychological counseling, but then the paper published an account of the case. Howver he appears to have started to take an interest in the judge in the case - which suggests that had he escaped the judge might have been a future target.

so sad. I grew up right outside of Annapolis and we used to get the Gazette.

This guy had mental illness history apparently so it will be interesting to see if he had guns legally.
