Default Police ambushed by shooter in Colorado

This happened in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a suburb near Denver.
Police responded to a çall at an apartment complex, where a man greeted them with gunfire, wounding several officers, and killing a young deputy, Zach Parrish, who was a husband and father. Some civilian bystanders were also injured.

They say the culprit "is no longer a threat", and he hasn't been mentioned again, so I presume he is dead.

Sad that events of this type have become so frequent (it seems) that we think, "well, lucky there weren't more deaths."

Happens far too often.

Yes, indeed.

The shooter was an Iraquí Freedom veteran who apparently had an ongoing feud with police in general, and the Douglas County Sheriff in particular. He seems paranoid in the few social media clips which were released. Doubly sad, because he was also a victim, in his own twisted way. None of this should ever have happened!

So often the perpetrator is also a victim.

The forgotten victims are usually the perp’s family
