  • Putin ally says "Vote for Trump or there will be war!"

Then there was this, from a good buddy of Putin:

    Here are some quotes:

"Writing in Slate magazine in July, Franklin Foer argued that Putin has 'a plan for destroying the West-and that plan looks a lot like Donald Trump."

"In the Washington Post...Anne Applebaum called Trump the 'Manchurian Candidate.' A day later, in the New York Times, my old foe Paul Krugman opted for the Siberian candidate."

"When he [Trump] hired Paul Manafort as his campaign manager, Trump could hardly have been unaware of Manafort's work for the Kremlin crony Viktor Yanukovych, the corrupt Ukrainian president between 2010 and 2014 . Another former Trump adviser with suspicious close ties to Moscow is Carter Page, a vocal defender of Russia's annexation of Crimea."

"Then there is Trump's openly stated desire to do a 'great deal' with Putin if he is elected, combined with the aspersions that he cast over NATO ('obsolete and expensive')-not forgetting his refusal to accept that Russia is behind the cyber-campaign against his opponent, a campaign that he himself incited back in July."

Personally, I find all this a bit chilling!

Thanks for this, Pat. It certainly seems that Putin, the ex KGB chief, is desperate for Trump to win. At the very least, I think he represents what Lenin referred to as a "useful idiot". And exactly how indebted to Russia is he? I mean, he must be financing his business empire somehow, and American banks have shunned him due to his cavalier attitude to their money. His numerous business trips to Russia may provide the answer, as this article, which I've posted before, in the right wing British newspaper, the Daily Mail, illustrates: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...in-appear.html

      • Thanks for that link, John. It contains some interesting stuff (about Trump) that I wasn't aware of.
        This is simply my opinion

Sought of reminds one of how the Nazis poured in thousands of dollars in support of the Republican Party candidate for 1940, hoping for an isolationist like Robert Taft (not a fully good choice, as Taft actually was an intelligent isolationist who did not put U.S. interests aside when threatened from abroad). Instead the Republicans nominated ex-Democrat, Wendell Wilkie, who while not pushing to enter the war was fully anti-Axis.

Certainly it is worrying that a candidate for office of the presidency of the United States of America would go against ingrained U.S. policy for the last 71+ years to counter Soviet Russian imperialistic ambitions and actually give a pass to the Russians and speak with admiration of their strongman.

            • John G. -- Thank you for the Daily Mail link re Trump and the Russians. I didn't know a lot of those details.

Latest troubling sights and sounds from Trump, with the election less than a month away. Apparently pretty little African-American girls count as fodder to prove Trump likes minorities-- badly done. (Scroll down for additional tales of his tendency to ogle women).

In regard to Trump's relationship with Putin, here are a couple of satirical takes on what at the least is a very odd aspect of the upcoming election with dark and unprecedented implications for American democracy. By this morning, over sixteen states have begun early voting, so it's possible that the election is headed either one way or the other. Stay tuned, world!

                    • At this point Trump can hope for 2 things:

Hope for a higher voter turnout on Nov. 8 than the historical 50-60%. I believe Trump supporters love him with greater passion than Clinton supporters love her. So if the turnout exceeds the norm, it may benefit Trump more than it does Hillary.

Hope that the polls are in error in predicting the winner, just like the Brexit vote was erroneously predicted by the polls.

But the thing that is sinking his campaign is literally right under his nose: his mouth. He is just way too careless with words.

                      • I wonder about the polls. Yes, most have Clinton ahead, but they're not consistent. In fact, of the three polls published on Thursday IBD and Rasmussen had Trump ahead, wheras the LA Times had it a tie.

Moreover, polling data from Rasmussen and the LA Times as consistently shown Trump to be either slightly ahead or in a tie with Clinton.

Correct. I have been saying all along that it's the man's own words that will sink him.

He continues to say outrageous things that please his base. But, as a lot of commentators are saying, he is not making new supporters but instead turning more people off. It isn't a winning strategy.

                          • Just a quick question from an onlooker : has the health issue with Hillary had any effect? Are people paying more attention to her running mate than is customary?

well I can totally agree with this. As Ive said many times-hes going to talk himself out of the white house. Its also not a good quality to have as president!

the reason those polls (Rasmussen and the LA Times) consistently
have Trump ahead is because they have been polling the same people each time...so it will never give an accurate number...It's not fake, or "rigged" as Donald would say... but not accurate....be that as it may, national polls have Clinton ahead by 6... which is still relatively close (most times in recent history it's 1 or 2 points), it shows how completely divided we are as a country....and sadly, whoever wins will never get the support of the opposite side and will not be able to get much done...I love my country, and I hate that this election has made us look so bad to the rest of the world....extremists on both sides DO NOT REPRESENT the majority.. but sadly they get all the attention.....Oh well at least the World Series can start soon and I can be somewhat distracted!!!
