  • Yorkshire Ripper to be freed?

    Regards Mike

    The Daily Telegraph

BillyE raised a valid point when we discussed this earlier....Shouldn't someone ask Sutcliffe if he tried to run Gorman Sickert over?

It reminds me of the treatment that Ronald Reagan's attempted assassin John Hinckley ended up getting. But I wonder- would this be the first convicted serial killer ever to gain eventual release? It seems outrageous. It might seem "politically incorrect" of me, but instead of showing leniency to someone because they are mentally ill, if someone has committed crimes of this magnitude I really think that keeping them locked up BECAUSE they are insane would be better reccomended.

Even if they make him wear an ankle bracelet, they can tell where he is but they can't tell what he's doing there.

I fear something very bad may happen here.

Ive got a lot of friends in West Yorkshire and i wouldnt want to be released if i was Sutcliffe.vigilantes will lynch him of that theres no doubt.

Personally i doubt he was ever insane just plain evil and he made the stories about hearing voices up in the hope that whats happening now with him on the road to release would happen rather than him do his time in maximum security prison.

Hope he rots and never goes free personally

Look, the article says he weighs 19 stone. Be a bit difficult to miss, don't you think? A bit difficult to move, I would also think.

I think he should have been hung in '82. But of course that wasn't available then or now.

He's what? Well into his 60's?

I'm not saying he's still not dangerous. Don't get me wrong. Like I said, I wonder why he's still alive.

I would hope not. I would hope that all Great Britain raises a public outcry as never before.

I agree with you but it was such a long time ago. Not as old as Jack but...People forget. Sutcliffe might be out walking (no sorry, riding a scooter or whatever) the streets if he ever gets out and people won't know.

I'm American, but from what I've looked up, 19 stone is about 266 pounds. He's not obese. And even if he was over 300, hiring a prostitute with a hammer under his coat wouldn't make any difference. Do NOT let this man go, for God's sake.

I agree with you but it's not going to be that simple. You and I have no say in who is allowed out of prison.

The press, I'm certain, if Sutcliffe is released, will alert the public.

One previous poster has said that Sutcliffe won't be released. I'd be interested in his sources.

He's no threat anymore but he should not be released. No way.

I don't think Sutcliffe is a threat anymore but..if it had been my sister, my mother, my friend he had murdered I don't think I'd be happy with him being released.

Anyway, like I said, by the sounds of it he wouldn't be too mobile.

Again, like I said, hanging in 82 would have been justice.

                              There you go.
