Oops! I just realized that's Helena Bonham Carter. The picture's kind of blurry
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

              Depp's version sucks donkey ass.

Gimme Ray Winstone any day! It's about the only other one out, isn't it?

Get the Lansbury/Hearn performance of the musical on DVD. It's a theatrical tour de force, and I for one - ahem! - "lovett" Depp was pretty good, I thought - and the film was certainly a different, and rather refreshing, take on the musical. Nowhere near as good as Lansbury and her two Todds, however. The real stars, though, are Sondheim's fabulous lyrics and superbly well-crafted musical score.
                Kind regards, Sam Flynn

It's theatre at its best And, yes, it's a musical - the same music as in the Depp movie, but enhanced by its being a live performance, and generally given much more "Oomph!".

                      Sam,

thanks for sharing that, really enjoyable clips
there, especially as I have just seen the movie
recently which I loved (except too many throat slittings)
.. the sets, the makeup look, and costumes of
Johnny Depp and my husbands all time favourite, Helena
Bonham Carter were wonderful. The 'pies' were unexpected
and hysterical, certainly a different type of movie.
Knew nothing about Sweeney Todd until the movie came out.

                      Victoria

ps. just read some earlier posts here .. I was told there really
was a 'demon barber' .. obviously my informant was incorrect.
Just a legend .. ok. I am not convinced re King Arthur though.

It's shortly to be reissued in PAL (UK & Western Europe) DVD format. I have it on pre-order with Amazon, as a replacement for my somewhat manky VHS copy.
                              Kind regards, Sam Flynn

At this stage, might as well wait for the Blu-ray.
