50 Years ago Ronnie Biggs decides that Australia is a better place to live than an English gaol.

    Can you blame him.

Sometime later he decides an English gaol is better than Brazil. Doesn't say a lot for Brazil.

I don't believe there were any significant leads although the man who was her abductor was seen, I think. If you Google Denise Clinton 1965, there are several artcles about the case.

The officer in charge of the executions was Major General Winfield Scott Hancock, called the best corps commander in the U.S. army, and considered by General Grant the best army commander who never led any official army (like Grant, Lee, Sherman, Joe Johnston, Jackson, Sheridan, Early, Hood, Thomas). Hancock, a Democrat, was a contender for the 1868 Democratic nomination for the Presidency, but lost that one to Horatio Seymour. He did get nominated at last in 1880 by the Democrats, but lost in a squeaker of an election (less than 10,000 popular votes difference) to General James A. Garfield (who would assassinated less than eight months later).

50 years ago - 1965 June 22 - James Latham and George York are hanged in a Kansas prison. The pair had deserted the Army in 1961, when both were still teenagers, then gone a cross country killing spree that left seven dead. Latham mounted the gallows last and he is, to date, the last person executed in Kansas.
