Interesting. Just watched a program on Bubonic Plague in San Francisco in 1900. It was fascinating with so many parallels with the spread of Covid and the attempts to stop it. They managed to keep it under control with a massive program to kill rats and improve sanitation. It turned out that the death rate was relatively low (about 200 I think) because it was a smaller and different type of mosquito that was infecting people compared to the Middle Ages. It had a smaller stomach and it was not injecting as much bacteria from a bite.

I agree, very interesting and quite frankly pretty darn scary. If I'm understanding correctly, the Bubonic strain developed after 8 years? Frightening to think of with COVID still around.
