    Smollett is an individual who has been in a privileged showbiz bubble from an early age, exposed to radical ideologies like the black panther movement. His view of Trump supporters seems to be one of caricature.....

    Two MAGA hat wearing rednecks out in arctic conditions carrying bleach and a noose in the hope of running into someone black or gay or both to lynch....then the Trump cherry on top of the racist Sundae.....Chicago is apparently "MAGA country". His story sounds like one a child would come up with on the spot.

    So why did Smollett do this beyond trying paint his political enemies in a certain light? Well what would have happened if he had got away with this?

    ◘ Increased fame and instant sympathy as a victim.

    ◘ He would have been front and centre at the Oscars/Emmys.

    ◘ He would have been the anti-Trump poster boy for 2020.

    ◘ It would and did help the Booker/Harris anti-lynching bill.

    ◘ His failing TV show would have got increased viewing figures.

    ◘ A boost to his mediocre music career.

    ◘ Film/TV roles would have poured in.

    ◘ Like Majikthise and Vroomfondel he would be on all on the chat shows and with a clever agent, he’d be on the gravy train for life.
    That is quite an insight into the mind of a juvenile prick but while I don't doubt your ability to have considerable insights into his thinking, let me point out why his thinking is incorrect on most points:

    ◘ Increased fame and instant sympathy as a victim.
    => Probably correct. who wouldn't sympathise with a victim? We all have varying levels of empathy in our bones.

    ◘ He would have been front and centre at the Oscars/Emmys.
    => The experience of other MAGA assault and attempted murder victims would not suggest that. Robert de Niro, Maxine Waters, Eric Holder and Rakeem Jones do not seem to have had prominent outings at recent Hollywood Award events. "Who is Rakeem Jones?" you might ask? He is the guy who was punched by the old fella with a cowboy hat at MAGA Rally in 2016 and the question proves exactly my point.

    ◘ He would have been the anti-Trump poster boy for 2020.
    => Robert de Niro was probably more of an Anti-Trump poster boy before he received the mail-bomb than now. besides, the real Anti-Trump poster-boy for 2020 will be Donald J.Trump himself.

    ◘ It would and did help the Booker/Harris anti-lynching bill.
    => Is lynchuing still legal? if so, then they better get their boots on.

    ◘ His failing TV show would have got increased viewing figures.
    I'm not aware of any MAGA victims having increased viewing figures. Except Trump himself of course who is obsessed with viewing figures. We all like a good horror-movie, don't we? I admit to tuning in when he holds one of his off-the-script pressers. It's like car-crash-porn for me....

    ◘ A boost to his mediocre music career.
    => Ditto

    ◘ Film/TV roles would have poured in.
    => Ditto

    ◘ Like Majikthise and Vroomfondel he would be on all on the chat shows and with a clever agent, he’d be on the gravy train for life.
    => Ditto

    It's the FBI's own report. The so-called MSM simply report on the FBIs own report. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...rise-us-report

    Jussie needs jail time.....but given we are now getting the line "he has an untreated drug problem" it seems he is going to go down the victim road again during his defence.
    Sure he needs jail time and his actions need to be judged against his deeds and not against the broader political picture. Where would the US be as a country if her judges allowed political partisanship to become a factor in sentencing..?

    No objections, your honour, but I would highly recommend the meatball-upgrade on the foot-long.

    "Jussie Smollett indicted on 16 felony counts following Chicago attack allegations". Yeah, attempting to use the police and prosecutor as cat's paws in a high profile case is something you probably ought to avoid if your idea of an effective criminal conspiracy includes paying the expenses via personal cheque. Do I understand aright, the Feds are now looking into his history as well.

    Chicago cops laid out their case against "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett Thursday morning, accusing the TV star of orchestrating an elaborate hoax involving two "bogus" hate crimes -- one involving an alleged attack, and one involving a threatening letter -- all in order to get a pay raise.

    Can't say I do follow this one, mainly because there really are more important issues in the world right now than trying to figure out if some attention-seeking twat is faking his own assault or not, like the knowledge of painfully stupid quotes like

    "There will be no downside to Brexit, only a considerable upside", David Davis, 10 October 2016
    "The day after we vote to leave, we hold all the cards and we can choose the path we want", Michael Gove, 9 April 2016
    "Most of the EU states are very sympathetic to our view", David Davis, 15 May 2017
    “Getting out of the EU can be quick and easy – the UK holds most of the cards.” John Redwood, July 2016.
    "Within two years [...] we can negotiate a free trade area massively larger than the EU … The new trade agreements will come into force at the point of exit, but they will be fully negotiated", David Davis, 14 July 2016
    [too many stupid quotes by Boris Johnson to fit on the server hosting Casebook]

    And now for a REAL gem:
    “The Conservative party will ensure that we fulfil our duty in ensuring that stability, so that we can all, as one country go forward together.” – Theresa May, June 2017.

    OR

    how to rid the world of the American President being in the pockets of the Russians as well as breaking all known records in self-dealing corruption and rampant narcissism.

    OR

    how to get the world to finally realise that any meaningful attempts to lessen the impact of catastrophic climate-change WILL affect the bottom line but at the same time, it needs to be done.

    OR

    me trying to tell my daughter that telling lies is a bad thing while the news are on in the background.

    I could go on and on and on and on but I need to go back to work, my boss is already checking up on me....

    started a topic Smollett is the suspect.

    Smollett is the suspect.

    For anyone following this story it seems we are now entering the championship rounds.

    “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett has been charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report claiming two men attacked him last month, a Chicago Police Department spokesman tweeted Wednesday night.
