Ouch!!!!! 127-63.. now that hurts (but if you go back a few posts.... my brother called it.. 63 points on the nose!!!) but then I looked at your score.... and you did even worse than my Lions 127-45... if I could reach across an ocean I would give you a hug hahaha.

Oh and I remember how the game use to be... I have been a fan of AFL going on 20 years (on and off as for so long there was no coverage in the States at all) but yeah.... it has become a bit watered down eh? I hate to say I miss the violence... as that must make me sound terrible.. but I do (well I am an ex Boxer remember )

Is American football at all big over there.. that is by far the biggest sport in the States ( and quite possibly my least favorite.. it is so slow.. I think so anyway).....

So other than the games.. how was your weekend?

And hey... Good on the Blues beating the WCE .. glad one of us had a good weekend!!

Talk to you all soon..... your friend across the water

Ha! It used to be a lot more violent, now the new rules have softened the game up quite a bit. I'd love to see an American commentate on a game of AFL....that'd be great lol.

Big American sports? Hmm....I'll have to get back to you on that! Basketball is fairly popular. Baseball is pretty common in school sports but not so much outside of that....

    Cheers,
    Adam.

To be honest I know very very few people in the states who know anything about AFL.... it's treated as a bit of a novelty here when it is talked about (once in a while ESPN will play a clip... more or less making fun of the violence )... there is a bit of a following ... at one point there was talk of trying to start a league here.. but nothing ever came of that.

What American sports are big there?

Just out of curiousity......Ashton Kutcher was in the crowd at the Hawthorn VS. St. Kilda match last night (he was wearing a St. Kilda scarf). The latest international celebrity to be seen at the games. Is AFL getting to be pretty popular in the USA? I know there was talk about playing exhibition matches over there a while back....

    Cheers,
    Adam.

Yeah Adam.. I feel your pain... infact I was starting to feel bad for myself knowing that my Lions have to meet Geelong this weekend.... that is until I saw your Tigers... well you have to play Collingwood...
Doesnt look like it's going to be a fun weekend for us eh?

Now Phryne on the other hand... hard loss to the Swans... but hey.. you get the West Coast Eagles this week... and they are even worse than my Lions

hope all is well with everyone... talk to you all soon....

    Hey Steady,

Not sure if coming to the States is a good idea, don't think I could handle the accents for more than a couple of hours! lol.

Glad that you get to see atleast some of the AFL action - you could always join a forum for Brissy Lions as well, I'm sure they'd be pleased to know they have fans as far away as (almost) Toronto! Might even get them over the line for a game or two....

    Cheers,
    Adam.

Oh I will never give up on my Lions.. and will always stay loyal.. but I am loving the Tigers run now.. love to see underdogs win you know?

Wow AFL is that big huh? I don't know why, but I was under the impression that rugby was bigger.... glad it's not as AFL is a much better sport (or so I think anyway)

I do get to watch limited AFL here in the states on-line only... some networks use to play it once in a while (ESPN2 and FOX-Sports world.. but no more). So I watch what i can.

I have never been to Australia but do plan on it someday (soon I hope).. however you should come to the states as well.... and where as I am in New York.. not the city... I am in the BUffalo area which is 8 hours from NYC... yet only 15 minutes from Niagara Falls.. I am right on the Canadian border.. so I guess you could say we are more a suburb of Toronto (as that is only about 1 hour from me) .. and that is also an amazing place,... Canada is a wonderful country!!

well I should stop talking now.. as I am at work, and as you can see, not working (boring job what can I say).

So fear not.. I will always be a Brisbane fan... gotta stick with my boys... especially when they are so down and out

Hope to hear from you all soon..

Nope, haven't been to the States yet....don't think I could handle being in a city like NY lol. You coming over to Oz any time soon?

Changing allegiance eh? Even though the Lions are still further up the ladder than the Tigers? Well we'd welcome you at Tigerland, but stick with the Lions....a friend of mine made the error a few years back of becoming a traitor and started to follow the West Coast Eagles just because they were the top team back then - now they are sitting on the bottom of the ladder and are utterly rubbish lol. Lions will come good.....it's been a while for Phyrne's team though, 1956 was the last flag wasn't it?

AFL is massive over here - bigger than rugby, rugby players are starting to ditch it for AFL lol. Bigger than soccer, excluding the World Cup. Probably bigger than cricket too, excluding the Ashes. Can you watch any of the AFL matches from over there?

Baseball? ....don't understand it at all. Have watched about 5 minutes of games from over there before and just don't get it.....

    Cheers,
    Adam.

Well, Adam New York is now in the few weeks of the year where it is nice (kind of) where i live it is cold 7 months a year.. and bloody hot 3 1/2 months and for a few weeks it's nice......been a bit on the hot side, but not too bad at all.... but we know, the snow is soon

I keep foretting that this is your winter.. summer time here.... Have you ever been to the states? If so where? Same for you Phryne.. ever made a trip to the States? would be worth it for a good old fashioned Baseball game (What can I say... I do love baseball).

I think I have decided.... I may need to buy a Tigers Jumper now ....look out Hawks by the way.... Lions have to win next week (as the following week... well Geelong will crush us)

You know there is something I have been meaning to ask.... How big is Footie there..I mean.... is it as big as say Rugby or Cricket or soccer (sorry.. football)?

hope to hear from you all soon------ a friend from across the water----Steadmund Brand

    Hey guys,

Yeah the Dogs are gonna be a pretty serious contender come September. I'd like to see either them or St. Kilda take out the flag from the teams that are in the 8 at the moment.....

It's raining, Steady. Lots and lots of rain. What's happening in NY?

    Cheers,
    Adam.
