Hey, now that was a fun game, I did get to see it streaming on-line, much to the dismay of my girlfriend hahah......aww, I didn't get to see Lionel though.... but he was in town here last year, and I did get to see him then...now you do know, next year Brisbane will win it all!!!
Now the baseball playoffs start Wed, my Yankees play the Minnesota Twins...and I'll admit I am a bit nervous..
and now the weather is starting to get cold, about 1 more month and our 6 months of snow will start ( actually that is not really a joke, our winters do last up to 6 months.... usually around 5.. but can be long and cold)
how is everything else going with you?

Well it's all over, Collingwood won it easily in the Grand Final Replay.
We had your very own Lionel Richie over here for the pre-game entertainment, Steady....
Cheers,
Adam.

Hey Steady,
Fortunately this re-match has become a bit of a charity fest, both clubs and the AFL are giving away tickets to sick and disadvantaged kids who wouldn't normally get to see a game like that, so it's turned into quite a good thing. Maybe they'll show it on the internet over there, live streaming or something?
If by any chance there's another draw this weekend, they will go on to extra time lol.
Cricket is just about to start over in India, should be interesting - as long as S. Tendulkar doesn't do much we should be right. As for your baseball, GO YANKEES!!!!
Cheers,
Adam.

Yeah that is sooooooooooo crazy....but hey, they will sell out another game, and on the plus side, probably a new rule change so this wont ever happen again eh?
what is terrible is in America ESPN was broadcasting the finals live... but they are not going to broadcast the re-match..... now, if it is as boring as the first game was, no big loss (sorry that was a bad game eh?)
anyway.. my Yankees clinched their playoff spot so i'm happy.. in 7 days the baseball playoffs start (yep, had to use playoffs) so good times for me...... how goes your Cricket eh?

Hey Steady,
You're not wrong, I think pretty much all Australians agree with you. There was 100,000 people at the game and millions of others watching who all do that to see a result - it's just the weirdest feeling, even when it's not your teams playing. That's only the second time that's ever happened!
Nothing new and exciting over here mate, the weather is still cold and we've just had more snow, when I thought summer was on the way. lol.
Take it easy,
Cheers,
Adam.

Wow a draw... and a low scoring draw at that.... how blah!! but hey, two for the price of one I guess eh? By the way.. how do they do that, do they have to re-sell all the tickets or do the same people get to go back? there should be no such thing as a tie in a final.... sorry, maybe thats the "American" in me.. but it's all about win and lose for us hahahah.
other than that game, how have you been? anything new and exciting going on? been busy busy busy here.....work sucks hahahaha.
hope to hear from you soon!!

A draw in the grand final - bit of an anti-climax!! So now we have to wait until next weekend to play it all over again.....

Yep, only a few days to go until the big day - and I can assure you that everybody in this country who isn't a Collingwood supporter, is barracking for St. Kilda.
This season's actually gone pretty quick, it'll soon be over for 6 months and in the meantime, the focus will be on the cricket and retrieving the Ashes!!
Hope all's well with you, talk to you soon.
Cheers,
Adam.

Wow everyone seems to have gone quiet and the Grand Finals are upon us..... I for one was shocked at how Geelong was beat (twice no less....ouch)
So now is the question... St Kilda or Collingwood (I did have a feeling it would be between these two all year... but thought Geelong did have a chance to upset someone... was proud of the Bulldogs.. put up a great fight eh?)
Just a gut feeling here... but I like Collingwood to win it all... what do you all think?
was a fun season, and I do hope we can keep up with each other thru here even during the off season... was much fun talking to you all.

Good luck to the New York Yankees, at least one of the teams is doing well!
Wouldn't know where to begin with teaching you the rules of cricket, they are quite complex and you'd probably be lost after the first paragraph lol.....the best thing you can probably do is just watch a few matches and check it out whenever you can, you'll pick it up fairly quickly, much quicker than if somebody tries to explain it in words.....
Cheers,
Adam.

A disappointing week all round, really, not just for the Lions.....the Tigers played really, really poorly for the first half the game and at one stage we were 59 points behind and looking like we were going to get demolished, but then we made a comeback in the second half and actually got within 3 points at one stage, but it was too much of a mountain to climb and we ended up losing by 10 points. Not a bad result considering where we were at but still a loss nonetheless, and not a very fitting way to farewell Ben Cousins.
But, there's always next season! Phyrne's mob are still in with a shot so they might do alright.....anyone but Collingwood would be good!!!!
Cheers,
Adam.

Well ending the season on a loss to the Swans was not my dream outcome but....oh well... on the plus side, the finals (Playoff's for us Americans
) is actually going to be shownon tele, wont have to watch it on line.... but my boys wont be playing.... my brother is a Cats fan,so I'll cheer for him now.
how was the last week for you Adam? (I have not had a chance to look at scores yet).
also... I do think I am going to need this "cricket" thing explained to me hahah I want to learn the game...I see that quite a bit of it is played omn television here, so would be good to know.
hope everyone had a good weekend!!

They've actually been trying to market cricket to countries like America, I know you guys have an Under-19's team that competed at the last World Cup. There's different varieties of cricket matches, there's Test matches that can go for up to 5 days, there's one-day matches that are 50 overs per side, and then everybody's favourite, Twenty20 cricket, 20 overs per side and a real slog-fest. You'd probably enjoy that format if you had the chance to see it, it's just a matter of learning all the rules!
Most of those team names mean nothing to me although I know of the New York Yankees of course.....and the Superbowl.....and Brett Favre....that's about the extent of it really lol.
Looking forward to this weekend, don't know who Brisbane plays? Hopefully we'll be playing into September next year, Steady.....
Cheers,
Adam.

Thats right... I did know about the "finals" thing....just so use to playoffs I guess.
Cricket huh...now that is one game I just do not understand at all....I watch it when I can but just cant seem to follow it..and games go on for days sometimes... do they not? I wish I understood it as it seems like a fun game .... but it just isn't played here (see now you can tell i'm not a Druitt guy.... I know, terrible joke.... but this is a JTR site after all
)
As far as American football.... well, I'm not a big fan of it to be honest (yes I am the only American who isn't a big fan) but if I do support any team it would be the Buffalo Bills (I do after all live in Buffalo.... got to support the home team I guess) well.... I cant say I always support the home team, in hockey (NHL) I am not a Buffalo Sabres supporter but I am a Detroit Red Wings fan..... and in Baseball I am a very big New York Yankees fan....as far as basketball goes... I am also not a big fan of the professionals (NBA) but rather I watch College Basketball ( in the states College basketball is as big as professional... strange eh?) But as I have said before, my favorite sport by far is Boxing..... and hey Kostya Tszyu will be going in the hallof fame next year ( I know he isn't "really" Australian...... but it should count)
So how does everyone feel about this weekends games? so sad it is that last week before finals.
