hello Steadmund,

I was what we call here, a Pom. An Englishman, brought over by my Aussie wife as a holiday souvenir. Over the years I became an official Aussie and a footy fan. We were in New York (the city not the State, well I suppose it IS the State but you get what I mean;-) last November visiting our daughter who was working there. Furthest i ventured was White Plains but we're hoping to go even further next time.

Good day , I actually became a Brisbane supporter about 10 years ago when I first discovered the sport (in America there is next to no coverage, one channel years ago played a game a week for a while, thats how I found it) so it was just before the Lions became so good.. I was thrilled that the team I adopted started to win.. and win and win....so even now when they are close to the wooden spoon I'll stay loyal!!

I will admit to being a bit scared this week, Why do we have to play Geelong hahaha.. but hey next month we get our re-match with Gold Coast... that loss is the one that hurts most this season!!.

so tell us a bit about yourself Dr.Strange, where your from etc...as you may have seen I'm in New York (state not city.. I live in Buffalo NY) and have been a Lions supporter since I started watching the sport, I'm not sure, but I may be the only Lions supporter in the USA ..I'm a fan of all sports (Baseball being my favorite team sport) but above all I am a boxing fan, and part time boxing writer....again, welcome to the thread....

And Adam...I just purchased a book on "the rules of cricket" so.. by next season I hope to be an active member of that discussion (I still think the sport makes no sense hahahah.. but it's fun to watch)

The problem is, Dr., that all the teams who are rubbish at the moment - Brisbane, Port Power, Adelaide, etc - and even Essendon but they're not really rubbish - the one thing they have in common is that they have ALL won at least one premiership in the last decade. Fresh in the memories of most of their supporters bar the youngest and newest and therefore crapness at the present time isn't, or shouldn't be, such a bitter pill to swallow.

For us, we've been waiting since 1980, and have been fed the same "we're rebuilding, we're rebuilding" nonsense every year certainly for as long as i've been a supporter and no doubt longer.....enough is enough!

Thanks for the welcome Steadmund hopefully you discovered the Lions when they were still had pride;-)

As to Adam, well Micheal Hurley was fantastic, other than that neither teams exactly shone. Brisbane. Richmond and Essendon. maybe this thread should be renamed bottom eight thread.

*Sigh* Congrats, Dr. Strange. Looks like we're in for at least a few more years of mediocrity at Tigerland yet unfortunately. As a fervent and loyal supporter since about 1994, when I was 5, and having seen the "performances" we've dished out year after year during that time, i'm not sure how much of it I can take...I'm honestly not.
