Another cold case resolved by comparing DNA from crime scene to online 'ancestry' databases. It's kind of surprising to me how rapidly this is starting to seem routine. What's nice about it is that it can be used to spotlight suspects with no arrest record, just by finding out to whom they're closely related. I wonder what long term changes in criminal behaviour will result from this becoming a widely-known / expected detection tactic?
