An interesting little story concerning some dodgy archaeological artefacts being promoted by an elusive character called David (also known as Paul) Elkington:
Sections of the media, including the BBC, swallowed the story uncritically earlier this year. It now emerges that Elkington was presented in October 2010 with - to all appearances - conclusive evidence that the artefacts were modern fakes, but pressed on regardless with his publicity campaign, which coincides with his efforts to find a publisher for a sensational book on the subject.
