Hi Pat,Originally posted by Pcdunn View PostAug. 18, 1988: Seattle judge Gary Little commits suicide following scandal involving juvenile defendants in his cases.

Proving judges are only men with feet of clay, as well as the rest of us.
I can't recall his name but there was a big scandal some twenty years ago that shook the New York State political and judicial world. The Republicans were going to nominate the head of the New York Court of Appeals for Governor to run against incumbent Mario Cuomo (seeking his third term), and it was generally felt that unlike the two previous candidates the Judge would prove a very good opponent. Instead, the whole plan fell apart because the Judge was using his office and influence (head of the New York State Court of Appeals is on our state's level the equal of Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court) to stalk and punish a woman who spurned his advances to her. It did not help that the jurist was married as well. The upshot was not only did he not get the nomination, but he had to resign his post and was disbarred. He got a sentence commuted (probably out of misguided mercy) to community service.
Yes they can have very big feet and legs and clay. And like the huge statue that Xerxes supposedly dreamed of in that story in Herodotus, the statue falls and crushes him.

First time I ever heard of this case.Originally posted by Pcdunn View PostAug. 13, 1961: Yosemite Killer Cary Stayner is born. After a traumatized childhood, including abuse and the kidnapping of his brother by a molester, Stayner would, in the Nineties, murder four people near California's Yosemite National Park. (Sounds too much for even the most lurid of TV-movies.)

Very possibly. Many of them are not fully satisfied in their lifestyles or the manner of how they make a living, so the idea of killing those they consider weaker then them is a release - and habit forming like drink, sex, or drugs. And sometimes drink, sex, or drugs are combined with the motivation to inflict pain for a thrill.Originally posted by Pcdunn View PostVery true, very true. So-- would you say that serial killers are "addicted" to killing, just as other people are addicted to drink, sex, or drugs?
Interesting thought.

Doug Clark is aged 68 and still on Death Row in California.

How could they agree to throw their lives away by doing such evil?

Carol Bundy is dead; Clark is alive
Carol Bundy died in 2003 while incarnated.Originally posted by Mayerling View PostHi Pat,
I read the article. Was Clark ever executed? Is Bundy still in prison?
Given her last name, one wonders if she is a distant relative of Ted Bundy.

I had not heard of this case. Lot of twisted people out there, I'm afraid.

Yes, and I noted that the man who confessed to the crime had watched the TV movie. They aren't sure if he was telling the truth or not, since they couldn't find Adam's body where he said it was, but at this late date... well, it's all we've got.Originally posted by Mayerling View PostThe incident was the subject of a moving, tragic television film, "Adam" made in the 1980s.
