Looks like a proper academic treatment. With a proper academic price tag attached.

Mostly this is good. I'm very curious which themes/ evidence they've picked up on. They may find they'll need to update it to incorporate new research in the not-to-distant future.

But 'Jack the Ripper studies', really? - any formal treatment of the case and its context, really needs to drop the usage of the boogeyman character. There never was a 'Jack'.

Who is going to pay £230 for a newly published book? I bet Paul Begg won’t be shelling out that much just for a Ripperologist review. I wonder if he’ll get a review copy?

It's not unusual pricing for the hardback edition of the Routeledge Handbook range. I assume the pricing is more intended for academic institution libraries, rather than the casual reader.

There might be paperback edition later, which will be more affordable but still likely in the £40 - £50 range.
