Every once in a while, however, something is published that feels like a breath of fresh air. Recently I have been pleasantly surprised by Helena's book, Jack the Ripper At Last?,
I've just been on UK's Amazon site and noticed that a new hardcover sells at £16.59 while used versions starts at £19.88. Probably JTR is selling back his own copy with blood stains on each page resulting in an increased market value. LOL.
Just began reading the ebook version and really enjoy it.
I often come across that, someone trying to sell something 2nd hand for more than the new one costs. Makes you wonder, unless it is an antique or something no longer available.

Thanks, however I just can't see how they can justify it.
Monty
Monty's isn't the only book they do this with and yes Highway robbery to charge more, or even the same, for an electronic version as the paper, the costs must be dramatically less, no paper, no printing, no distribution to pay for and no share going to the retailer.
That's good to know. I equated it to buying you a beer in the pub so what's a few extra quid for a job well done. However the pricing might turn potential buyers away which I think would be a travesty.

I'm not happy with the pricing Dane, and made my views know.

Actually, it was my pleasure. I read almost everything Ripper related and this has become tedious after 40+ years of study. Every once in a while, however, something is published that feels like a breath of fresh air. Recently I have been pleasantly surprised by Helena's book, Jack the Ripper At Last?, Tom's The Bank Holiday Murders, Simon Wood's Deconstructing Jack and your own Capturing Jack the Ripper. Well written, entertaining and filled with new, and fascinating, information, it was an absolute pleasure to read. So, thank you for writing it.
Wolf.
Thanks Wolf,
Yeah, I really didn't want to write another Ripper book, as I didn't think I would add anything new with regard the murders.
However, ironically, I have included new bits n bobs, and hopefully gleamed a little light on the Victorian bobby.

The kindle book price took me aback at first notice. It's actually MORE expensive to buy the kindle edition than a new hardcover copy here in the States.
However. I am a man of my word and said as soon as a kindle edition would become available I'd purchase it and I did just so. I look forward to reading it and can't wait to dive in.
I only bought the book in order to find out exactly who Constable 426H was. I'm kidding (although that was the first thing I looked up). My personal review of the book, for my files, ends with "One of the best books on the subject ever written." So I guess I really liked it.
Wolf.
As someone whose high standing work in the field I've admired since I first came to the boards, oh so many years ago, whose posts, articles and dissertations I read with keen interest, even awe, your words humble me Wolf.
