  • New Ripper Book - "Secret History"

"Secret History" is the sequel to "Deconstructing Jack."

It solves many aspects of the mystery, and also explains why the murder of Mary Jane Kelly never took place.

The book is available from Amazon on 15th July.

I think this is of no concern to those who register and come to this site on a regular basis

Maybe that's why Macnaghten and Swanson did not mention
his first name: he did not have one, but was plain Kosminski.

Maybe it's also why they said that he died shortly after he was caged in a lunatic asylum.

                    But Macnaghten did not!

He wrote that Kosminski was believed still to be alive more than five years after the last murder.

In the event it was only Macnaghten and Anderson, I reckon 'Kosminski' could be written off as pie in the sky at the hands of Victorian supremacy fantasists.

It's Swanson that gives the story genuine credence, and for those of us who believe there is something wrong with the whole Kosminski candidacy: Swanson's notes need an explanation.

Somehow I misread "Macnaghten and Swanson" as "Anderson and Swanson".

But neither did Anderson claim that the alleged Polish Jewish suspect 'died shortly after he was caged in a lunatic asylum'!

According to Anderson's son, Anderson believed that the man had died, but he does not say when.

And in 1910, Anderson gave his publishers reason to believe that the 'suspect' was still alive.

Swanson's notes certainly need an explanation!

Why did Swanson write that Kosminski died soon after he was certified insane, whereas Macnaghten believed he was still alive more than five years after the last murder?

Why did Anderson believe that the Polish Jewish 'suspect' was already permanently confined in an asylum at the time of his alleged identification, whereas Swanson stated that he was living at home?

Why did Anderson imply that he was still in the asylum following his identification, whereas Swanson claimed he was under 24/7 police surveillance?

Why did Swanson indicate that the identification took place soon after the last murder (which both Anderson and Macnaghten considered to be that of Kelly), yet that it took place in a building which had not yet opened?

The only explanation is that Swanson was retelling a story he had heard - and a tall one at that.
