Regarding Jon's post #336 with the revised cover.....

Would the Kelvin MacKenzie quoted on the cover be the most notorious tabloid newspaper editor of 20th Century Britain or some hitherto unheard of Historian or Ripper expert?

Might someone be 'aving a larf here?

That was pretty much my thought, AP. But perhaps he's the world's first author who couldn't care less to receive feedback on his efforts.

And I, JM, never drink whisky, took the pledge years ago, and wear a pink mini skirt to conference.

    Hi Chris G

Yes, if you look closely you will notice that the whole area has been mirrored rather badly in photoshop.

    Chris G.,

That's hilarious, and you're right. I'm sure that was just another error on the behalf of someone other than Cook and that yet another wrong cover mock-up was sent! Ha ha. Awesome backpeddling.

    Yours truly,

    Tom Wescott

    So would I.

    Thanks for the comments, Archaic.

    Questions for Mr. Cook

Hi, JM; I have a few questions for Mr. Cook.

    > I'd like to know what Mr. Cook's personal opinions and feelings are as regards this online debate, and

    > I'd like to know if large booksellers such as Amazon have already (contractually) agreed to sell his book with the current Mary Kelly cover.

Thanks for asking for our input. I hope that the two of you will consider doing a Rippercast together at some point.

    - Best Regards, Archaic

PS: I'd really love to ask Mr Cook questions about his work regarding the events surrounding the murder of Rasputin and the fall of Imperial Russia, but of course that would be way off topic, so I won't.

    What?
That picture reminds me of my own photographic efforts...they've cut the top half of Mary's head off,and it's not very clear...all they needed was a finger over the lens, when the took the piccie.

There's a familiar name for me,amongst those who are reviewing it...how interesting. He's quite an outspoken character.

Yes this early press release seems to have made a bit of a hash of things. It makes you wonder what other miss information it contained?

While its good to see that some sense prevailed with regards 'Case Closed' the clarity of this photo is about as shocking as it could get.

P.S. Have you finished Trolling now ‘Evil Ludwig?’

    Not titled 'Case Closed'

    Hi all,

I was able to clear up the matter of the books title. It is not subtitled Case Closed. This was an early idea that has since been discarded. Apparently the early mock-up for the cover was sent to amazon in error and they saw the early version of the title on the old version of the book cover and used it for the listing. The book is simply titled 'Jack the Ripper'. The origin of the 'Case Closed' had nothing to do with Cornwell, but was a homage to Gerald Posner's book on the JFK assassination. Whatever...so, let it be known from this day forth that 'Case Closed' is not in the title.

Therefore, as you may be thinking, amazon has the wrong book cover image. Indeed they do. The real book cover will be this:

I will not be speaking to Andrew Cook until this Saturday. I will not be recording the conversation but taking notes. Please PM me if you have any further short, sweet and to the point questions you'd like me to address to the author.

Questions about the books content might be interesting

    JM

    Natalie,

I was counting you in that loop. You're rehabilitated. You had a blindspot for AP for a long time, but I've always enjoyed your input and insight on here. If you wouldn't compare yourself to Pirate Jack or Karen Trenouth, why should I?

    Yours truly,

    Tom Wescott
