AP wrote a bunch of successful fiction novels under a different name. When you have a lot of money coming in, agents will line up to make 10%.

Where do you find an agent who only wants 10%?

    **** 'em I say.
    £250 for the article,
    10p for the stamp,
    £249 for a night out,
Does your agent know what happened to the other 90p AP?

The Constable & Robinson website doesn't list the contents of the 2008 book, but it does say that "[t]his volume collects not just all the key factual evidence but also 20 different arguments as to the identity of Jack the Ripper, such as that advanced by Patricia Cornwell". A discussion of Cornwell's theory would obviously incorporate material that postdates the 1999 version, so it must be a new edition. Ergo, gotta have it.

BTW, I don't know if the 2005 book was the first hardcover edition of the 1999 paperback or (because of the change in title and publisher) a brand new edition. In any event, it's a handsome volume, dirt cheap at the time of publication, and well worth having.

Hey, Stan, my agent told me that she would tie me up and beat me to within a inch of my life for signing a deal without giving her the 10% she earns for my work. I do like a dominant woman.
My ethos? Sack the publisher, marry the agent... give up writing, and become a normal human.
And then sling Jack the Ripper books into a Mammoth waste bin which will never be big enough.

According to Ripperana magazine, he's an Italian sportswoman. I'm not making that up.

Correction, it was a Mammoth scan.

I wasn't aware that the new edition had new stuff in it. I'll need to buy it. Like Stewart, I didn't bother with the 2005 edition, particularly with it's misleading title.

    Yours truly,

    Tom Wescott

Your right Stewart, what was worse, was the fact that it was advertised on Amazon as "Jack the Ripper, A-Z"!!

As you can imagine I had a few words with Amazon and the seller, but kept it anyway.

I think you will find that the 2005 edition was a straight reprint of the first edition, which is why I didn't bother buying a copy. However, the 2008 edition is revised and updated, with some new content. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The first edition of this book (right below) was published in 1999. The new, revised 2008 edition (left below) has only just been published. It is different from the first edition with some new entries.

    Hi Roy,

Yes, after reading that stuff, I'm glad I didn't rush to order it.
