  • Bad Books?

Which books you would recommend people stay away from reading?

Too outdated/intense focus upon specific suspect to the detriment of facts/just plain bad etc.
O have you seen the devle

    With a slide cocked up.

As the internet has been deluged with ripper books in recent years a good way of avoiding the dross is by reading Paul Begg’s book reviews in Ripperologists or just posting the question on here as there’s always a chance that someone might have read the book in question. I bought 3 kindle books (I think) recently just for something to read and they were uniformly awful. You’ll remember years ago when we used to look forward to a new book on the subject. Those books are few and far between these days. The fairly recent books on Levy and Hyams were exceptions. And Suzy Huntington’s forthcoming book on the Torso murders will be worth getting; as will the knew A-Z.

Time Reveals All by SC Davies.

It postulates that there are hidden codes within the Ripper letters.

      Terrible!

I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this!

That might have been one of the one’s that I bought Ms D. We both should have known better. Ahh the good old days when I used to eagerly await the next ripper book.

          Ahhhh! Those halcyon days indeed!

I seem to recall that I tried to warn you off TRA some years ago.

Still, some things we have to find out for ourselves!

I’m sure that you did warn me although I can’t be 100% certain that TRA was one of the kindle books that I bought. I had at least 3 and maybe even 4 but I’ve deleted them all.

And let us never forget the offering of Patricia Cornwell , on the badness scale that is right up there.
