  • "JtR 125" Conference DVD - Request for contributions

    Calling all Ripperologist film makers!

JtR 125” (The 2013 Jack the Ripper Conference commemorative DVD)

Following on from last year’s popular “Dark Side of the Jack” Cd, for the 2013 conference, we are planning to include a DVD within the delegate’s pack that will contain a number of short films about Jack the Ripper or other specific elements of the case. This will be a strictly limited edition of 125 copies, for attendees of the conference.

As with last year’s CD, we would like this to be a collaborative affair, involving as many Ripperologists as possible. In a way, this will ensure that the DVD reflects the nature of the conference itself, in that it will be a joint production involving a number of people.

So, if you have a talent for film/video production, or would like to try your hand at making a short film (no longer than ten minutes in length) then please PM me, Andrew Firth, with your idea. Contributions (in WMV or AVI format) should be regarding some aspect of the Jack the Ripper case, such as the East End, the Victims, suspect theories etc, and should not contain any material which is offensive or libellous. The content should be all your own work, and not taken from another source such as a TV programme etc.

The disc will have a “Play All” option to watch all the contributed short films in one sitting, (almost like having a “mini conference” in your own living room!) as well as an option to select a specific chapter from a sub menu. The running time of the DVD will of course depend on the number of contributions we receive.

With the advent of affordable video equipment and YouTube there is now a growing number of Ripperologists who are keen amateur film-makers. If you’d like to share some of your work with delegates at the 2013 conference, then get in touch!

    All the best

    Andrew Firth
